Jumpstart on Phonics

This is an ongoing course that meets twice per week focus on phonics awareness skills for young learners. Your child will be given the opportunity to learn all 26 letters of the alphabet, vowel sounds, practice blending and decoding words.

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
In this ongoing course, we will learn all 26 letters of the alphabet, learn the long & short vowel sounds, practice blending and decoding words.  Students will practice blending 2 letter sounds and form words.  Read Alouds short stories will develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word. During Show and Tell, students will share what they learn and other any toys / experiences with the class.  Our group discussions will build their oral communication skills and encourage social interactions with students their age. 
No homework required for this lesson.
Student may bring crayons, colored pencils or dry erase board for drawing and writing.
There will be informal assessment to ensure students are learning the material.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will participate in move and freeze games.  No special footwear or clothing required.  Parents can provide a small space for movement and a water bottle if needed.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
