This is an ongoing class that will meet three times a week for a month. In this ongoing course, students will practice their math skills. This course is designed to give students practice with math each week. The students will begin the class with a number talk. They will work on a math word problem. Then, they will do an addition fact fluency activity. The class will end with a mental math activity. Below is a breakdown of the course: Number Talk: Students will look at a math picture or a math problem. They will be given a few minutes to solve the problem in multiple ways. Then, the teacher will have two or three students share a number talk. The students will explain how they solved the problem. Word Problem: The students will read the word problem. The students will solve the problem using at least one strategy. A few students will share how they solved their word problem. Fact Fluency Activity: The students will learn an addition strategy to help them solve their math facts. The students will participate in a fact fluency activity or game. Each day will be a different activity. Mental Math Chain: The class will end with a mental math exercise. The teacher will give the students a problem to solve mentally. The students will share their answer at the end.

This class is designed for students to practice their addition math skills. This class will focus on explaining their math thinking, solving word problems, fact fluency, and mental math.

Students will need the following materials: - Class handout (I will provide the class handout before each class.) - Binder (Learners can keep their word problems and activities organized in a binder.) - Pencil Students will need materials for each day's math fluency activity. I will provide a list of the materials needed before each class. Some materials will include: - Dice - Deck of cards - Paper clip - Cubes or blocks
