Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
During this Jump Start Reading Summer Camp, students will practice their foundational reading skills with fun practice and games. Students will engage in various phoneme awareness activities, blend consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words, and practice first grade sight words and review kindergarten sight words in a fun and engaging way. Our class is packed full of practice and fun activities designed to help your student recapture their reading skills to continue the momentum or to jump start their next year of learning! Curriculum is based on the Orion Gillingham approach to multi sensory learning. We will be using tools found in your home to help your child use multiple senses to help foster learning.

Students will work on:
1. Phoneme awareness activities
2. Review kindergarten sight words and learn first grade sight words
2. Sound out and blend short vowel CVC words and nonsense words
3. Play games to engage each learner

I have been a public first grade teacher since 1996 and my greatest joy has been to teach children how to read. Curriculum in all areas rely on reading and is the building blocks to lifelong skills. I hope to see your Learner join me in this journey of reading!
