Please see the description for what we are learning each week. 🌟Class Description: This class is perfect for the incoming second grader to get ready for second grade math! Each class will start off with a number of the day and we will use that number throughout the class to add, subtract, count on from, or backwards from, greater than/less than, etc. Next, we will spend a few minutes reviewing some first grade skills before being introduced to our second grade skill focus of the day. I will show the class how to work out a problem, then we will work one together, and last, they will do a problem independently. Before the class ends, I always like to reinforce skills learned with a game or activity. I encourage all children to participate in class. We will go over how to mute and unmute ourselves in the event that there is background noise and they need to be muted. Please see below for additional information along with a breakdown of what your learner will learn each week. 🌟Teacher Commnication: I am available through the messaging system if your child does not understand something, please let me know. If you have a question, please reach out. I typically respond quickly unless it is in the middle of the night CST. 🌟Work Packet and Weekly Video: Each week 24 hours before class, I will upload the work packet for the week. In the work packet you will find the worksheets for the class which we will complete together. I will also give you additional worksheets along with a video for your child to do in his/her free time. The additional work packet and video will be sent out after the last class each week. So you get an extra FREE lesson each week. 🌟Monthly Newsletter: I give a monthly newsletter that will include the lessons for the month, ideas or strategies that will help your child best succeed in math. I also include any class changes such as upcoming holidays or breaks when we will not be meeting. Along with the newsletter, I will give you a FREE monthly resource to help your child at home. The FREE resource may be a game to print off or an activity to do with your child. 🌟Below is a breakdown of what your learner will be learning each week: 😎June 16-20 Review: Place value to 100 Skill focus: Place value to 1000 😎June 23-27 Review: Patterns with numbers using skip counting Skill focus: Patterns with numbers to count and add numbers 😎June 30-July 4 Review: 2 digit addition Skill focus: 2-3 digit addition with regrouping 😎July 14-18 Review: 2 digit subtraction Skill focus: 2 digit subtraction with regrouping 😎July 21-25 Review: Strategies for addition and subtraction Skill Focus: New strategies for addition and subtraction 😎July 28-31 Review: Measurement using nonstandard units of measurement Skill focus: Measure using inches and feet and learn to use a ruler. Hello Everyone!! I love to teach fun and engaging classes for children ages 3-8. I enjoy being silly and singing silly songs with the class. My puppets and my own pets often visit the class. I have been teaching Prekindergarten for the past 8 years and before that, I taught kindergarten for 9 years. I love the energy that the young learners bring to class.
When I am not teaching, you will find me hanging out with my family around a camp fire or traveling around the United States. I am also a Girl Scout leader in my community and love taking my Girl Scout troop on many adventures including camping trips, field trips and hiking trips. We like to earn a lot of STEM and nature badges. I love the outdoors and try to get out as much as possible. When I taught in the local public school classroom, I would often take my class outdoors to teach if it was a nice day. So come join me in class and see what adventures we will take! I have been getting requests for classes during the after school hours, so I am starting to add more classes during the after school hours. I look forward to seeing you in class!!Reviews
