In this 1:1, three-session (suggested) class, your young writer can choose from a list of ready-to-go, high-interest opinion topics with custom-built lessons for ages 9-12 or select a topic of their choosing.

Opinion writing can be a fun and exciting genre for young learners to find a passion and purpose for writing. It is one of my favorites to study, and the pleasure I get from teaching this genre makes for an enjoyable class. During day one (I DO, WE DO), using my high-interest opinion topic, we complete a graphic organizer that includes all the needed information to write an opinion response. I obtained a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2002 and an Educational Technology master’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 2010. I spent over 20 years in the upper elementary classroom and specialized in teaching language arts for 10 years. I also have ten years of private tutoring experience and have tutored online since 2020. I specialize and enjoy digging deep into and discussing a good book with a group of young learners and building upon the reading/writing connection. I work with students from ages 8-13 (upper elementary to middle school skill level).
