Description

Class Experience

The class will be discussion style and will be driven by learner needs and interests.   

No previous knowledge is required only a desire to learn about J.R.R. Tolkien and The Fellowship of the Ring.  

The class will meet twice per week, for 55 minutes each session for 5 weeks for a total of 10 sessions. 

Learners will interact with the instructor and each other throughout the majority of each session.   This will not be a talking head session.

I have been teaching high school students and adults for over 25 years.  I have taught this particular class at the high school and adult level multiple times.  I am also a certified counselor.

Learners will be asked ( not required )  to complete the book The Fellowship of The Ring by the start of session 10 in Week 5.  423 pages, approximately 85 pages per week.

The Book The Fellowship of The Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Informal assessment, based on class discussions, and submissions.

1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.

Concept of good and evil.  Knives, swords, and weapons.  Mentions of battles and fighting.
