What's included

This is an ongoing, weekly storytime & music class for early learners in a print-rich environment. There will be a new theme, story, and song each week. During some major secular holidays, we may use the holiday as the theme for the class. Every week, we will meet together as a group to participate in "show-n- tell", listen to a story, and sing a song with actions or body movements. Each class will start with greetings and social interaction through show-n-tell. There'll be a virtual name card for each student so they can learn to recognize their name each week. We'll review the first letter of their name and/or give them a chance to spell it if they would like. Next, is show-n-tell to fit that week's theme. Students will be given the time to share a toy, book, picture, or item they have brought on the day's theme or any other theme they'd like. Sometimes, we will sing a 'hello' song together, and some days, we may discuss how we're feeling. Knowing and using "emotion" words can help children form deeper connections with others, help make negative feelings seem less intense, and help build oral language skills. Students will be supported and encouraged no matter how they may be feeling. We'll use simple picture cards or virtual pictures with emotional expressions I will introduce and read a storybook that correlates with the theme for the day. which will include lots of questions and predictions. Next, we'll sing a song with movement or hand motions on the theme. We will close the class with a simple 'goodbye' song.
