Teacher expertise and credentials
Greetings! Thank you for taking the time to review my profile. My educational experience of over 15 years include teaching preschool to high school both in school settings and online with a focus on English. I currently work as a Family Outreach Representative with my local school district. I’ve also worked in journalism, advertising and marketing. I hold a Bachelor's of Science in Communications and a Master’s degree in Educational Policy & Leadership.
I advocate on issues I'm passionate about such as equity in education and social justice. After working with my youngest daughter and our State Senator, along with an amazing group of advocates, we recently passed Seizure Safe Schools legislation in our state. This very important bill turned into law will help protect over 11,000 children statewide! My focus is to help create positive change, bring light to social justice issues, and bring equitable education to all.
I’ve lived in three different countries, four different states, and six different cities! I enjoyed living in Hawaii as a child and loved living in Germany and exploring Europe as a teenager. These days I live life near the beach with my family. I'm a sports mom and a mom to two German Shepherd dogs. I love to travel, go on hikes, explore new places, cook and write.
I enjoy teaching various subjects from geography to history to sports to English and writing, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), to exploring Greek Mythology, Native American heritage, and anything and everything related to Star Wars. I enjoy sharing knowledge from my own life experiences. I've coached basketball and managed a youth club soccer team. I'm also a Life Skills/Stress Management Coach helping others navigate through life with support and understanding. My philosophy behind teaching is to spark the imagination and passion within each student.
