In this semester long science class, students will learn about a variety of astronomy topics from telescopes to neutron stars with optional labs.
Class experience
With the modern scientific age of powerful telescopes, astronomers have peered farther out into space and have uncovered an incredibly fascinating Universe. From our very own unique Solar System to the mysterious quasars, astronomy is an engaging and diverse area of science. In this 12-week class, we will start at the beginning with the ancient astronomers’ understanding of the cosmos and work our way through to modern astronomy. For the past 20 years, Alana has taught astronomy to children. She worked at the Angelo State University Planetarium, is part of NASA's Nightsky Network, and regularly provides astronomy outreach opportunities to her community.
Homework Offered
Upon the parent's request, student's can turn in the provided note taking sheets, labs, and tests for a grade.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
