US Grade 3 - 4
**** This is an introductory class with VERY basic facts about each planet. This class is great for students who have a limited knowledge of the planets. ***** In this one-time class, we will journey through our solar system in space, as we learn facts about the eight planets, the sun and moon. This is an introductory class, with very basic information for new space enthusiasts. Students will enjoy this exciting class as we learn facts about the solar system and learn the names of each planet in order. Students will match the planets with corresponding fun facts on a worksheet during class. Therefore, it's important to print the handouts before class begins. I will teach using visuals through a slide show to keep the children engaged as they learn basic facts. Students will need access to a printer to print two handouts before class begins! I encourage output from the students, but it is not mandatory. They can speak as little or as much as they would like. See you soon! Mrs. Cristina
Learning Goals
My goal is for the children to leave this class with a basic overview of our solar system.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary
Hi! My name is Cristina and I am an Astronomy and Meteorology teacher. I have been an educator for over a decade, having earned a Bachelor's degree in Christian Ministry with a minor in Psychology and Counseling. I am a certified severe storm spotter for both the National Weather Service and the Spotter Network, and am proud to be a NASA Social alumni. Additionally, I serve as a Solar System Ambassador for NASA/JPL, allowing me to share the latest astronomy events with my community.
In my role as a science communicator, I've had the honor of sharing space-related updates for numerous years, affording me the opportunity to distribute information about space across various social media platforms. Additionally, I was selected by Lockheed Martin as a space influencer for the OSIRIS-REx asteroid mission. These experiences have not only enriched my understanding of current space developments but also enabled me to impart this knowledge within my Outschool classes.
Science, particularly Meteorology and Astronomy, have always been a passion of mine and I strive to make learning about it enjoyable for students.
A fun fact about me: I can solve a Rubik's cube in under 90 seconds. In my free time, I enjoy reading and baking cookies. I look forward to teaching your learner in the classroom!
