Journaling for Emergent Writers is a writing class that uses drawing and discussion to ease reluctant students into stretching their writing skills over time. Who: Emergent writers age 6-10 (or those with similar ability) who enjoy drawing and discussion. What: This course is part Language Arts and part Visual Arts! Students will spend the first half of class discussing the events of the past week and will choose one event/day to journal about. The second half of class will be devoted to...
Students will stretch their existing writing skills through discussion, drawing and writing practice. Students will brainstorm writing ideas with their peers and share their experiences.
There is no homework in this class.
Students must provide paper, pencil or pen, and coloring supplies.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
