Writing information in journals is a skill that individuals use throughout their lifetime! Bulleting is a way for students to organize their thoughts in an organized manner! During this on-going course, students will bullet their thoughts while using their creativity and they will develop an appreciation for journaling! Students will be able to draw their thoughts, write them, and organize the information they are thinking. Schedules, to-do lists, brainstorming, and the importance of keeping our notes organized will be discussed throughout this course. Students will have numerous opportunities to share their knowledge and questions throughout this lesson. Week of 1/25/2021- Lesson One: I DO know how to write! During this lesson students will learn strategies to help them write for long periods of time. We will discuss how to brainstorm topics in a journal and we will discuss our weekly expectations. Week of 2/8/2021 - Lesson Two: Schedules and To-Do Lists! Students will learn techniques to help them create to-do lists. We will discuss the importance of this life skill and brainstorm how to generate lists that contain important information. Week of 2/15/2021 - Lesson Three: Note Taking 101! During this session students will learn how to take notes while learning about a topic. After this lesson, students will be able to organize new learning throughout a variety of subjects. Week of 2/22/2021 - Lesson Four: Diary Entry! Students will learn how to journal their thoughts and feelings. We will discuss the importance of recording our feelings and how writing can relieve stress. Week of 3/1/2021 - Lesson Five: Using Tables to Journal! Writers (your child) will discover the impact of organizers. Learners will be able to create organizers in their journals that can aide in organizing information in the real world, during class, or for fun! Week of 3/8/2021 - Lesson Six: Editing and Sharing Our Journals! Learners will learn how to edit journal entries and will discover the purpose of writing in their journals. We will reflect on previous journal entries and discuss how they can help us in the future.

Lesson One - I DO know how to write!

Other Details
Supply List
All learners should have a journal throughout each lesson and a writing tool. Any journal that the student chooses to use is welcomed! The student may also select the writing tool they prefer!

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hi there, thank you for showing an interest in my classes! My name is Ms. Michelle Miller and I hope to see you in my classroom! I hold a Bachelors Degree in both, Elementary Education and Special Education. I also hold a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. Previously I was a public school teacher. I had a blast hosting interns while teaching first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grade! I currently teach and supervise in the Early Childhood and Special Education department at Towson University. I enjoy educating future teachers while emphasizing the need for learning to be hands-on and engaging! I have enjoyed teaching a wide-range of students and I firmly believe that each child is unique and learns in a different way. My passion for teaching continues to shine during each of my online lessons! We will be singing while learning story elements, become detectives while searching for the main idea, and we will be going on a safari while looking for text features! Along with reading lessons, writing will be a blast while learning all of the secret tricks to becoming a magical writer! Throughout each lesson, respect and support will always be given to each student. I will promote a safe and EXCITING learning environment for the children in order for everyone to reach their full potential! I will always BELIEVE in my students and I look forward to having you in my classroom community!
