Young participants will experience the joy of the holiday season through a captivating and interactive musical journey. Each class will consist of 1 traditional song and 1 modern song. The traditional songs will include a mini-lesson on reading music. This is a great way to combine songs learners already know with learning how to read music that is needed if they want to learn an instrument (guitar, voice, piano, trumpet, clarinet, flute, etc...) Class format: We will start by learning basic music reading skills: such as note names and values; treble and bass clef; key signatures; rests; dynamics and articulation. Then we will sing a traditional song that allows them to apply what they learn. Then we will sing a modern holiday song so they can sing along to songs they hear on the radio from artists such as Michael Buble, Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, and Mariah Carey. How I Will Teach: As the instructor, I will create a supportive and encouraging environment where every child feels comfortable and empowered to participate. I will use age-appropriate teaching methods and materials to make learning fun and engaging. Required Experience or Knowledge: No prior singing experience is necessary! This class is open to beginners and those with a passion for singing alike. All that's required is enthusiasm and a love for holiday songs. Content does not build over time and students can join in any week. Overall, this is a fun, creative way to express themselves through music, encouraging confidence and self-expression while learning music theory and principles. The class aims to enhance students' vocal skills, helping them develop proper techniques for pitch, tone, and breath control, which are fundamental for singing any genre of music.
By participating in interactive activities and performance opportunities, students will boost their self-confidence and creativity when it comes to expressing themselves through music, preparing them for future musical endeavors.
