Description

Class Experience

Students will learn to construct and tell original jokes, as well as learn word-association skills and listmaking, which is essential for creative writing and reduces anxiety. By the end of this workshop students will be able to create comedy on the spot with confidence, and they'll easily be able to access these skills at any time.
Hello! I'm an experienced joke writer and "Joke of the Week" winner with former head writers of "Late Night with David Letterman" and "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." I'm a stand up comedian and improv comedian, and have performed with cast members of Saturday Night Live, The Daily Show, and more!
As this is a one-day workshop there is no official homework to be had, but I encourage everyone to challenge themselves to write at least one joke a day to keep their comedy skills sharp.
A pen and a paper for notes are all you need, no laptops/tablets please physical note taking preferred.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
I encourage all students to write to the height of their intelligence, and we will avoid using inappropriate/offensive language and "blue humor." The great thing about comedy is that we can talk about ANYTHING, so we'll heighten the creative process by talking about anything else.
