Improve balance and learn variations of this acrobatic skill!
In this workshop, students will learn various poses in forearm and elbow stands. We will do a flexibility warmup consisting of back and splits exercises. Then we will work on balance drills and poses like: thinking pose, fang, and split. Students will learn entrances and exits to and from other skills in their repertoire. Students will improve their balance in a basic forearm stand. They will add variations to this skill based on their level. They will learn safe and creative entrances and exits to the balance.
I have nearly 15 years of experience teaching dance. I’ve been coaching flexibility for the last three years. I currently work at several dance studios and perform aerial acrobatics and contortion with Sora Contemporary Circus.
Parents should be aware that all acrobatic skills include some risk. The most common risks in this class are falls/tumbles out of the position and muscle strain. I recommend that students have an adequate space to work in, clear from clutter, and that they can hold a one minute plank and a back bend, before attempting this class.
