Class Experience

As a former employment counselor, it was my responsibility to help individuals do well on employment interviews and coach them through the process. I also had my own resume and interview counseling business until 1998 until I went back to teaching and have done many seminars in the community on how to interview well. The first thing I do is ask each learner what type of positions they are seeking. By asking this, I can help them tailor appropriate responses to the general questions they most likely will be asked. The class is kept small so it can be personalized for each learner. In this session, we will talk about the do and don'ts regarding the interview. The general questions that are most likely going to be asked will be addressed along with discussion of the best way to approach these so the student may understand them and have the best chance of success. Topics such as proper interview attire and writing a thank you note are also discussed. I teach in a relaxed manner, and we will have time for questions. The class is most effective if your teen is comfortable enough to role play and practice how to answer the interview questions after we explore a few of the best ways to answer them. Note: This class is not appropriate for younger learners and students seeking a position in: modeling, acting, or commercials. Those positions involve special information that is not covered in this class. I will teach to one learner. Class Rules: We mute so we do not talk over one another, we are kind and respectful to everyone, if we have a question or a comment, we raise our hands, and as per the Outschool rules, the camera must be on so I can verify the learner. In order for this session to be effective, the camera also needs to stay on so I can see expression and body language.
