Description
Class Experience
Joan of Arc led the army of Charles VII to victory in 14th century France. At the time, many said she was possessed by the devil. Today, she is a patron saint of France. Most of us know a little bit about Joan of Arc's background, but let's get even deeper into her story. We'll start by learning about The Hundred Years War, a war that had already been waging for 75 years when Joan was born. Through an interactive Nearpod lesson, we'll discuss her story, from her birth until her death at 19...
Learners will be able to describe the life of Joan of Arc Learners will be able to use evidence to support their arguments
I have a degree in English Education from Brigham Young University. I also took many history courses during my time in school. I have years of experience teaching in a classroom and online. I have a deep passion for history and love sharing that with learners.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
While Joan was being held captive by the English, there were several attempts to sexually assault her. This is important to the story as she decided to wear men's clothing to better fight off her attackers and this was added to the case against her. I will not get into any graphic detail in our class discussion and will only say that she was "attacked" by her captors, but learners may figure out what is meant by this. I will keep any discussion that arises very brief.
