In this fun and active music class, students will develop musical skills while learning and exploring the song “Jingle Bells.”
Class experience
The song “Jingle Bells” is an old song about the joy of riding in a sleigh pulled by a horse over the snow. In this class, we will use this fun song as the starting point to explore various musical elements such as beat, rhythm, pitch, tempo, instruments, singing, and movement. Young singers will explore keeping the beat and playing rhythms using the syllables – Ta, Ti-Ti, etc. Many movement activities will emphasize keeping the beat and tempo. Learners will be able to identify Kodaly rhythm...
Learners will learn to engage their body, breath, and voice to become confident singers. They will learn how to pat rhythms using the Kodaly method. Learners will also practice keeping a steady beat. Learners will learn several songs and movements.
One plastic cup is needed. Optional supples: rhythm sticks and/or any percussion instrument, such as a shaker, drum, etc.
Learners will need a little space in front of their screen to move to the music.
