Description
Class Experience
Irish Dance is for everyone and every age. No experience of any kind is necessary to get started. In class we will learn Jigs and Reels with some holiday music and themes. Irish Dance is full of energy with jumps, kicks and skips. This dance style uses rapid footwork with crossed feet keeping to the rhythm of Irish music. Class will begin with some warm-up stretches to get the dancers ready for movement. After warm-up the dancers will learn some of the basic characteristics of Irish...
My goal is that each learner will gain appreciation for Irish Dance and master the basics with the opportunity to advance to a higher level.
I have been teaching Irish Dance to ages 3 through adult for 40 years. I am certified through our teacher organization in Ireland and am a member of the Irish Dance Teachers Association of Mid-America and the Irish Dance Teachers Association of North America.
Practice between classes is encouraged.
No special supplies needed. Just comfortable clothing suitable for easy movement.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Learners should wear comfortable clothing suitable for easy movement and flexible shoes which provide traction and also allow them to stand on their toes. No jeans please. Dancers are encouraged to have a water bottle on hand to stay hydrated during class. A large space is not necessary for class however the area should be free from any items on the floor or furniture which may create an obstacle.
