What's up with jellyfish anyway? Are they jelly? Are they fish? In this fun, interactive one-time class, young marine biologists will explore the world of jellyfish. Where do they live? What do they eat? How big do they get? How many different kinds of jellyfish are there? Are they endangered? Using a colorful PowerPoint presentation, exciting video clips, and interactive discussion, we'll answer all these questions and more, plus I'll even give you the link to a live jellyfish-cam where you can watch these majestic creatures in real-time from the comfort of your own home. We'll finish the class with a fun, hands-on jellyfish project that you can use to teach others what you've learned. There is no experience or prior knowledge required to enjoy this class. Just bring your curiosity, your thinking cap, and your smile.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Tracy Raymond, and at Outschool, I'm known as Ms Tracy.
I love teaching! My BA is in Elementary Education, and for over a decade and a half, I taught in 'brick and mortar' public schools. Most of that time was spent in First Grade, so K-2 students are my wheelhouse, although I enjoy exploring more complex topics with older students as well.
I'm excited to offer classes in reading readiness (phonics, phonemic awareness, sight words), literacy, writing, science, math, and social studies, all based on the standards. Along the way, we might even have a few special activities just for fun.
In my personal life, I'm a wife, and the mom of two grown sons. I love animals, and I'm a fur-baby mom to a rescue German shepherd named Jack and a rescue kitty named Arabella Mayhem (because Mayhem is her middle name, obviously). ;)
I live in South Florida, and I adore the beach and the water. I also love to travel, and I can't resist an adventure. Recently, I took up geocaching. Maybe I should offer a class...
I believe that children (and maybe most adults, come to that) learn best by doing, by exploring the world around them through engaging, hands-on experiences that enable them to discover new concepts for themselves.
If you're looking for a serious, quiet 'stand and deliver' kind of teacher, I'm definitely not your girl. On the other hand, if you love having fun while you're learning, actively participating in the lesson, laughing a lot, and maybe sometimes getting a little messy, you'll fit right in my classroom.
I can't wait to see you there!
