Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
With each weekly session, I will walk students through the needed skills for Algebra. I will Before I tell you about this private tutoring time, let me share what the parents of my students have to say about it:

"Ms. Kitty is so patient with Christopher. He has gone from failing grades on his exams to 85-100 on his last two. He even asked me to sign him up for twice a week."

"The teacher was really patient with my son. We will definitely be back weekly."

So, how will we structure our time together? Your learner gets to decide what the topic is. Maybe there's a quiz or test coming up. Perhaps some specific problems with the SAT Prep. Or perhaps one of my Boom! Nailed It! Linear Algebra focus topic classes have your student needing extra attention beyond what your student can get in a class with other students.

Pick your topic and request a time. It's helpful if you can send me the trouble spots and assignments ahead of time.

I can cover all other topics from Pre-Algebra to Calculus and SAT or ACT PREP

For example - your student might be at an Algebra 2 level. Here are common topics for Algebra 2.

Session 1 L1 1.1-1.2 Functions, Interval Notation, Domain and Range
Session 2 L1 2.1-2.2 Transformations
Session 3 L1 2.1-2.2 Transformations Part 2 with Forms of Quadratics (L2 2.1)
Session 4 L1. 3.1-3.2 Simplify Radicals and Laws of Exponents
Session 5 L1 4.1-4.2 Multiplying Polynomials
Session 6 L1 5.1 Factoring with GCF and Factoring Trinomials
Session 7 L2 2.1 Completing the Square
Session 8 L2 2.2 Axis of Symmetry and Quadratic Graphing
Session 9 L2 2.3 Complex Number

You could begin with these and we can adjust as we need to.

Policy for missed classes:
Outschool, like any other school, tutoring or private instruction arrangement, has policies about missed classes. As my own policy of grace, when there is illness or an emergency, I allow for one missed lesson each semester before defaulting to Outschool’s policies. I don’t typically allow for unexcused missed classes.
Learning Goals

I taught in public and private schools for teaching math in middle and high schools. I received additional certification training for gifted and talented learners. I taught math for sixteen years and I've been a personal SAT tutor for seven years. My students have typically raised their scores between 100 and 300 points. As a chemical engineer and project management professional in the world of business consulting and information technology consulting, I've completed over five levels of college calculus and applied mathematics and used these math and computing skills throughout my career.

The students I have taught had varying learning abilities that ranged from one with pronounced learning disabilities to gifted and talented. When it came to PSAT's and SAT's, each of them with impressive improvements in their scores.

It can be done! I used a focused approach. We honed in on trouble areas, really understood the underlying math concept, and drilled for mastery.
