Class Experience

Bring your strongest Jedi powers and make your own felt plushie while practicing your hand sewing skills! In this live class, students will sew their own Baby Yoda (from The Mandalorian) out of felt. While we sew, we can discuss our love of everything Star Wars!

Students need to be familiar and comfortable with hand sewing. This includes knowing how to thread their needle, double-knot thread and complete basic stitches (running stitch, ladder stitch and whip stitch). We will review the stitches in class, but it is helpful if they already know how to do these if they wish to finish their plushie in class. If they run out of time, don't worry! All of the steps are pre-will be posted in the classroom after our live session is finished. When it's done, post a photo in the classroom to show your work!

If you are new to sewing and are looking for the basics of hand sewing for an absolute beginner, you might consider my KidSew flex course, which includes a lesson on hand sewing for Week 6: https://outschool.com/classes/kidsew-beginner-to-intermediate-sewing-course-9baHZ3w5?

Please contact me with any questions prior to enrolling and I can help assess your learner to see if this class is the right skill level for them. It may be possible to send them a shortened tutorial for the required stitches, to help them prepare in advance for this class.

Learning Goals

Students will practice hand sewing skills and receive personalized support while sewing. At the end of the class they will have an adorable plushie, and the skills to make any type of stuffed animal!
