In this one-time art class, students will create a colorful painting while experimenting with different watercolor and resist techniques with easy to follow drawing and painting instruction and demonstration.
Class experience
In this class the students will learn the elements of art (color, line, shape, texture). We will explore and experiment with a variety of watercolor and resist techniques. My goal is to develop independent-thinking, risk-taking, creativity, self-confidence and self-expression. I will provide easy to follow, step by step instruction and demonstration during class as the students follow along, allowing for discussion, questions and sharing. No prior art experience or knowledge is required.
Students will learn the elements of art (color, line, shape, texture). Students will learn to mix primary colors to make secondary colors. Students will learn the differences between warm and cool colors. Students will learn organic shapes verses geometric shapes. Students will learn how to create texture by using table salt in their painting. Students will learn the definition of a line and how to describe a variety of lines. Students will learn watercolor techniques (wet on wet, wet on dry, splatter) Students will learn both resist techniques with salt, oil pastels or crayons.
I have been teaching art to students from K-12 grade for 15 plus years in both online remote classes and in person private and public schools.
The students will need the following materials for this class: heavy white paper (watercolor, heavy drawing, construction) oil pastels or crayons watercolor paints paint brushes cup of water napkins table salt newspaper to cover work space
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
