Even though you have played the piano reading the sheet music, you might have wondered how pianists play jazz, blues, rock, and other non-classical music. They read chords and improvise as well as read written notes. But is there anything else they do? In this one-time class, students will learn the basic idea of how to play non-classical music, chords and improvisation. All including the students who have never played the piano is welcome. This class will be more of a discussion style and the instructor will demonstrate playing the piano, use recordings and PDFs. I studied the piano of classical music for a long time and then switched to non-classical music. I understand both sides of practice performance. This experience will be brought into teaching to make the piano more interesting, fun, and professional.

Hi, こんにちは, I am originally from Japan and live in the U.S. for 16 years. I teach Piano (basic and intermediate for classical music and non-classical music including jazz, rock, pop and musical), Musical composition, and Japanese and focus on the beginner and intermediate students. Of course, advanced students are also welcome. I have been teaching these three subjects at university and music school, and I love teaching all ages both group and one-on-one lessons. I love teaching because I enjoy working with students and seeing their faces, who work hard, solve problems, and feel confident. This is a big reward for me.
My purpose in teaching is that I want you to have fun first. Learning new things and practicing them are sometimes frustrating because it takes time. I know this because I have been there! I am here for you and let's work together. I look forward to seeing you soon.
I am from Japan and love books, traveling, food, good TV shows, and films, old cartoon and music!
