Beginner Level
Konnichiwa,  I am Amy sensei. Welcome to Guided Japanese Learning for learners ages 6-11.   This is course 2 of 2 designed to build and retain vocabulary and practice speaking in beginner level sentences in a fun and engaging way.  Learners will naturally begin using new words and phrases in order to play games presented in class.  Suitable for absolute beginners and learners with some exposure. (If you are unsure of placement, please reach out to me). This class does include singing in Japanese as well. 

Lessons will be in Japanese and English.

I will create a predictable routine to support comfort, confidence and comprehension.  I use props, flashcards in both Romaji (English Alphabet and Kana), a felt board, puppets, stories, videos, VR trips, gestures and movement to bring life and understanding to the language.  I am observant, personable, and playful and love to build a connection with each learner.

Class Routine:

 1.Singing the greetings song 
 2.Counting in Japanese Warm up
 3.Review Vocabulary : Individual Speaking Time
 4.Weekly Theme: Japanese Storybook, Game, Hands-On materials
 5.Sharing and social time

Learning Goals

Students will learn about the Japanese yen and count by tens,hundreds. They will practice shopping phrases, explore a Japanese konbini (convenience store),greetings, colors, shapes, parts of the face, make origami, and learn the names of animals of Japan.
