Description
Class Experience
In this 12-week online course, students will progress to the level of Beginner in the Japanese language. This class focuses primarily on speaking and listening skills. However, the writing system will be introduced in our first lesson. Class members will meet 2 times per week. The first meeting of each week will be lecture-style (with plentiful interaction) and focus on introducing the Japanese phrases for the week and discussing study strategies. Students will establish a strong basic understanding of the Japanese language and become familiar with Japanese culture.
I lived in Japan for 2 years. I have studied the language extensively and speak Japanese at an intermediate level. I also have experience teaching languages.
Students will be expected to practice their assigned Japanese phrases between class meetings. Each week we will learn 10-20 words or short phrases (the longer the phrases, the less will be assigned).
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
