In this ongoing Japanese drop-in lab, students from all semester classes will have the opportunity to practice their Japanese in various conversation topics. It is required that students enroll only after taking a Japanese class with me, and it is preferred that this be a semester class. Each week, a new conversation topic will be selected. Topics will the same as those covered in Japanese semester 1 and 2. I will have conversations questions prepared, but I will be open to suggestions from the students if they have specific topics they'd like to discuss. The last 10 minutes of each class will be spent in open discussion about Japanese culture or grammar questions. The weekly topics will rotate through the following (updated for Fall 2024 semester, Thursdays): 1) Sept 5: Introductions 2) Sept 12: Common Phrases 3) Sept 19: Mealtime Manners 4) Sept 26: Likes & Dislikes 5) Oct 3: Hobbies 6) Oct 10: Weather & Outdoors 7) Oct 17: Family Members 8) Oct 24: At Home: Daily Routine 9) Oct 31: School Days 10) Nov 7: Games & Sports 11) Nov 14: Body Parts & Feelings 12) Nov 21: Shopping & Telling Time 13) Dec 5: At a Restaurant 14) Dec 12: Travel Phrases Feel free to drop-in to class for the topics that you are interested in practicing!
