Class Experience

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

★ Identify several cultural traditions of Japan and the Pokemon that are inspired by those traditions.
★ Explain what a yokai is and how to identify one.
★ Describe many mythological creatures of Japan.
★ Recall several Japanese myths and folk tales.
★ Identify which Pokemon are inspired by Japan's most popular myths.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Not recommended for sensitive souls! Some of these Japanese monsters are quite creepy. There are some stories with death, destruction, and one mention of suicide. (I would let my own 7 and 11 year olds take this class, but there are other kids in this age range who probably wouldn't appreciate the creepiness of it all.)
