Description
Class Experience
This course is an alternative to my one-session-at-a-time Japanese Conversation: Individual Tutoring course and allows parents to enroll up to four sessions at a time. The specific material covered in each session depends on the progress of the learner made in the previous sessions. But in general, over the course of four to eight sessions, learners can expect to learn the following: -Greetings -Self introductions -How to talk about family -How to talk about likes and dislikes -How to talk...
I’m offering this class because I love languages. My three years of Japanese study at UCLA as well as my four years living abroad in Japan as an English teacher have prepared me with the passion and skill-set that make me the ideal Japanese teacher for beginners. I will be sharing with students the same techniques that my native-Japanese friends and teachers have used to help me get quickly past the hurdles that tend to slow down most beginners. My teaching approach is extremely visual. I love pictures and illustrations and slideshows. Like playing a sport or musical instrument, Japanese conversation in my class is learned from drilling and repetition until correct responses are given automatically, quickly, and naturally with little or no thinking.
1 file available upon enrollmentFree printable handouts with vocabulary, phrases, and writing practice will be made available several days before the start of each session. No outside materials or purchases will be necessary. Having a working printer is not necessary for this class, but the ability to print the handouts will help to make learning easier and more engaging. For the very first lesson, please print the handout titled "Classroom Phrases".
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parents: Please let me know how to pronounce your child's first and last name so we can convert their name appropriately to Japanese. If you have a Japanese, Korean, or Chinese last name, if you happen to know the Chinese character(s) associated with your last name and/or first name, let me know so we can convert it to the appropriate Kanji.
