In this weekly on-going class, children will be led in song, story time, activities and introduction of hiragana. This class is geared towards Japanese speaking children and is taught in Japanese.

PLEASE NOTE: This class is NOT for beginners. Class will be conducted entirely in Japanese, and students are expected to follow instructions and to be able speak in simple sentences in Japanese. This class is geared towards children who: * Already speak Japanese and are interested in maintaining and building their skills. * Have extensive background (i.e. parent speaks to them in Japanese, or they live/lived in Japan, etc.) but may not yet speak fluently * Can understand most of the...
This class is taught in English.
Students will practice their Japanese skills through various activities: Listening: listening to Teacher's explanations and instructions, Story Time, and listening to classmates. Speaking: Sharing about themselves, singing, and answering problems. Reading: Students will learn to read a few letters of Hiragana, the Japanese alphabet, per week.
We typically do monthly origami craft, so I recommend purchasing an assorted color pack of origami paper. Learners will be asked to prepare common items such as: origami crayons/markers paper scissors glue/scotch tape In such cases, teacher will notify students/parents prior to class via message posts in the classroom.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Each week a selected age-appropriate Japanese book will be read aloud during story time.
