In The Footsteps of: Hokusai, students are introduced to the 18th century Japanese artist, Hokusai. Hokusai is well known for his print making, charcoal and caricature drawings depicting life around him. Students will explore the same materials as they create their own masterpiece each week including paint, charcoal and print making. Students are encouraged to interact with the teacher and other students as they follow step-by-step with Ms. Crystal. Students are encouraged to share their art pieces with the class once they are finished via the classroom board. Recordings are made available after each class for students to refresh on terminology and techniques covered in class. Breakdown by each week: Week 1: Drawing and Mono-Print Week 2: Print Making Week 3: Traditional Ink Painting Week 4: Manga drawings (caricature)

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am an illustrator, artist, teacher, business owner, and a pug mom. I have a degree in Illustration, a visual art minor with 20 years of teaching experience. I believe that knowledge is power and the more you know the greater your influence can be. Learning should be fun and individual. Even when my students are looking at the same picture for painting class, their work is very individual and unique to them and I love that part of the creative process. We are all learners and we should celebrate each other on the Journey!
