The focus of this class is to teach students the basic foundations for reading and writing Japanese. It's a low and somewhat agonizing process as we learn these new characters. Students will learna progression starting from Hiragana and then moving up to Katakana as quickly as possible before jumping into kanji.

I am a Japanese language teacher at the high school level. The kanji students are learning are the same I have my students learn in my classes but at a quicker pace.

Homework Offered
Students will be given a packet with 2 sets of five  characters each they are responsibile within a week's time. For example, in one week, they must memorize how to read and write 
あいうえお
かきくけこ

They will show me the packet and I will give them a score based on how much they completed. This all will be down via handwriting. I may provide extra content during the week.
Assessments Offered
We will have a quiz after every other set and students may not use thier packet to help with the assessment. There will be a final test after all of the Hiragana and then also with Katakana. Then with Kanji, we will cover ten kanji per packet and students will then be tested on them.
