When I was learning to play guitar, I wished that there was some easy way to arrange chords and drums to play along with. Luckily, these days every Apple product comes with a very under-rated tool that kids (and adults) can use to quickly compose jam tracks or even complete songs. This class will cover all the features a student needs to get started using GarageBand. We will discuss using the in-app instruments to record chords and bass lines. As well as how to record your own instrument. We will also cover several ways to add a drum track. I will also explain how to use the note arranger and more advanced features such as FX, equalizer, quantization, and more. By the end of the class the students will gain an understanding of everything they need to compose their own short songs, as well as the confidence to further explore the app on their own. Note: We will barely cover any music theory, students should have some experience playing musical instruments, know basic chords and notes.
Learning Goals
Class students will learn to compose an 8-bar track perfect for playing along to.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I specialize in Early Childhood Development, and enjoy teaching a variety of science and art based subjects ranging from physics concepts to creative LEGO design and building. I believe kids learn the best through critical thinking and using foundational concepts and patterns to answer their own questions and figure out the world around them.
