Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
In this class, students will develop an understanding of the writing process, various text forms, and different genres. Learners will have the opportunity to express themselves more confidently and effectively as they learn about, develop, and apply writing strategies. The focus will be on writing independently. Learners will write about a variety of topics. Topic choice and starters will be provided, but students can also use their own ideas. Classes will include warm up exercises, teacher modelling of the process used by effective writers, whole group discussions, lesson breakdown, and creation of anchor charts to assist students with their own writing. Tasks that are not completed during class will be finished for homework and shared with the teacher. Feedback will be provided. Students will have the option to share their writing with the group. Tasks will be scaffolded to support learners of different ability levels.

Hello, my name is Neda, but my students call me Mrs. Topic. I love to teach Language Arts, especially reading and writing. I am a licensed elementary school teacher in Canada. In my 25 years of teaching in public schools, I have taught all subjects from Kindergarten to grade 6, but I am certified to teach K-10. I have Specialist qualifications in Special Eduction and ESL, and I have taught ESL for many years. I have a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Ottawa.

Over the course of my career, I have received numerous awards for excellence in teaching, including the Director of Education Commendation and the Ministry of Education ESL/Kindergarten Lead teacher. I am a lifelong learner, and I strive to foster a passion for and a love of learning in my students. I believe that the key to education is the joy of discovery. Children have different learning styles and require differentiation to meet with success in school. It is my goal to provide my students with a well rounded education through an emphasis on academic excellence.

I am married and the mother of 4 adult children, and a grandmother of 5. My life has always been blessed with the laughter of children. In addition to spending time with family, I love to walk, travel, read, paint, and play with my grandkids.

I look forward to teaching your children at Outschool.
