Description
Class Experience
In this FLEX course there will be no live meetings. Students will enjoy a class of interaction and learning as we dive into identifying and counting money. Through use of math manipulatives, modeling and discussion, students will have the opportunity to practice learning a new skill each week, building on the prior week's lesson. I use the teaching method, "I do, we do, you do" during my instruction where I will first model the skill, then we practice together, and then the students practice...
Students will be able to identify coins and bills and their values. Students will be able to count money up to $5.
I have years of experience teaching math skills in the elementary school. I also have taken many professional development courses to continue my craft in providing effective instruction that helps students achieve goals and become successful learners. More than anything, I am just a person who cares and wants children to feel successful and accomplished.
I encourage students to practice the skills taught each week. I will provide handouts which should be turned in through learner messages by Sunday of the assigned week.
I encourage students to bring a dry-erase board and dry-erase markers to practice. It would also be beneficial for students to have coins and bills to use during the class. You can print them or buy toy money to use. This will be a great way for students to interact with the lesson during class. If there are any other supplies needed, I will let you know through the classroom tab. Any assignments are due by Sunday of the assigning week.
I will assess students mastery of skills through use of handouts and interactive activities in the Outschool classroom tab.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
