In this 12 week flex class, students will sculpt fun projects from air-dry clay.

Class experience

Students will learn techniques for using air dry clay and will create teacher led projects.
Homework Offered
As a flex class, all work is on your own time. Time should be allotted for the projects to dry.
1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Grades Offered
A large tub of white air dry clay. Crayola brand is the best. Should be air dry clay, not model magic.
Paint (quality watercolors or acrylic works best)
Paint supplies (water, various brushes (need tiny soft brushes), paper towels, table cover)
A piece of muslin fabric or tshirt
Fabric dye (watercolor would probably work too if you didn’t want to use dye and don’t plan to wash)
Flat marbles or small rocks (for anchoring your fish in the reef)
Thin wire (like for jewelry making) or pipe cleaners (for reef fish)
Aluminum foil
1 battery operated votive candle (beware button batteries!)
Toothpicks
Safe butter knife or playdough knife
Small rolling pin (like for playdough)
A small bag of fake “jewels” (plastic, crafting dept at walmart) (optional to decorate bird house)
Pipe cleaners (for human figure)
White cardstock
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Younger students may need help.

Beware: battery operated votives have a button battery inside them! If you choose to add one to your bird project, make sure your child knows to never open it, that they aren't kids who tend to put things in their mouths, and that you are aware of the dangers of swallowing a button battery. I personally take the little light from my own younger kids and only let them have it under direct supervision.

Youtube: A youtube link to the class content will be embedded in the weekly posts. These are my own videos I have made with only me in them showing how to make the projects, hosted on youtube. They shouldn't have any access to ads or other content, but you may need to make sure Youtube is allowed on your child's tablet/laptop/etc to view. I have them set as "for children" with child appropriate content, private with link only, and comments off.
