It is a magical world full of unknown possibilities and together we will explore it using character mapping, discussions of literary devices such as foreshadowing, and overarching themes found in literature. Students will read the book and dive in to of the world of Harry Potter using discussions, worksheets, and out of class activities to gain a deeper understanding of the book. I am a complete Potterhead to include a pilgrimage to Universal Studios annually, a collection of fan shirts,and several books about fan theories on my bookshelf. I even own more then one wand which I may or may not be practicing the silencio spell with. It is all in good fun and with an appreciation for the magical world that JK Rowling has created!
Each week, students will be assigned additional reading of the assigned book, asked to journal about the segment read, asked to complete handouts associated with the material and come to class ready to discuss material.
2 files available upon enrollmentTeacher will provide handouts, selected recommended websites for activities and optional crafts associated with assigned reading. At the end of each session, I will supply the handouts and sites needed for the coming week. Learners will be graded on completion of handouts and journal entries when uploaded in to the Classroom and are provided by request to parents.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
While the book club covers a copyrighted source, learners are expected to work from their own copy of the text. No reading will be done during the lesson, out-loud or otherwise and all materials provided to students are either created by myself or are used with permission of the creators.
