Class Experience
This fun and interactive three-week class for beginners ages 6-10 will introduce students to the following topics: Lesson 5: Greetings, Emotions, More Colors, More Numbers, Food - Pesto Lesson 6: Simple conversations, Verbs - I want, Emotions, Colors Lesson 7: Review & Practice, Numbers, Colors, Food - Homemade Pasta Lesson 8: Review & Practice, Numbers to 10, Verbs - I have, Italian Fashion - Versace Lesson 9: Review & Practice, New Vocabulary, Food - Acqua Lesson 10: Review & Practice,...
Students will learn phrases and vocabulary to have simple conversations. They will also learn about Italian culture (geography, arts, food, music, family, fashion).
I am a certified Italian teacher (K-12) in the state of California and have been speaking and studying Italian all my life. Italian is my passion and I love sharing it with children. I am inspired by Homeschool Languages and am using that curriculum for my scope and sequence. I love how this curriculum builds up the language with practice and review and connects Italian culture (geography, arts, food, fashion) to the lessons. Italian is a wonderful language for children. It is fun, easy to start using right away, and important for understanding world history. I have a BA and MA in Italian. I taught children k-5 in an Italian immersion IB school for five years. I have been teaching online for two years.
Homework is optional and will be in the form of ideas for games at home for extra practice.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Learners are given immediate positive feedback and corrections during class.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Only age-appropriate content will be displayed in all projections. Youtube - video that will be projected only during class. No username or password is required. Suitable for learners under 13 years. It will not be used for homework assignments.
I have adapted the Homeschool Languages curriculum to an online format using slides with their permission. The Homeschool Languages curriculum contains links to kids' educational videos on Youtube which I will be showing. Youtube (see parental guidance above)
