Building confidence is key to any foreign language, and that is what I will be doing through this class. (Italian for Teens 6 is not contingent on students taking Italian for Teens 1-6, although it would be better for them to take those first would help to learn some basics.) Week 1: Students will learn 16 flowers and be given a pdf with photographs of the plants that could be used as flashcards. Week 2: Students will learn the rest of the pdf from the first class of 16 more flowers. Week 3:...
The goal of this class is to help students get excited and feel confident in learning Italian through learning vocabulary and small dialogues in order to get them interested in foreign languages in college and give them a head start to see if the Italian language interests them to take more of when they attend college.
In high school, I was only offered Spanish. I believe that taking foreign language classes opens the doors to many opportunities. My love for language has continued to grow and at university, I took Italian up through Italian Intermediate level. I now give students the opportunity to learn a language that they are interested in and make learning fun. I have even been known to take facts and put them into a tune to help memorize them easier!
Homework is optional. *Each time, we will review some from the last lesson. *Homework each week will be to review the new vocabulary and questions and how to answer them (I provide optional homeworks) *Students will be given matching worksheets, coloring sheets, and/ or more.
There are no quizzes or tests. We review and engage in vocabulary and mini-conversations together. Your student should expect to participate. If asked, I provide a certificate in pdf format for finishing the course.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
