Italian for High School Students II: Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Grammar.

The primary objective of this course is to enhance the knowledge acquired in the initial course by speaking in complete sentences and utilizing an extensive vocabulary. Moreover, students will advance their reading and writing abilities.

Assessment
This class has no formal assessments. However, informal assessments are used to gauge a student's progress and to improve the contents and quality of the class.

Class Experience

Intermediate Level
In this class, students will build upon the knowledge developed in "High School Italian I." Students will continue to deepen their knowledge of Italian vocabulary while practicing reading and writing. Students will also be introduced to rudimentary Italian grammar. While the completion of "High School Italian I" is strongly recommended, it is not a requirement. Students that have already mastered the material listed in the class description of "High School Italian I" are welcome to enroll.

Below is a summary of the topics that will be covered each week:

Week 1 - La città: words related to one's city and things that can be found in it (buildings, places, and things).

Week 2 - Emotions: how to say them and how to express them in Italian.

Week 3 - A trip to the supermarket: learn how to say the names of things you will find at the store (food, supplies, etc.).

Week 4 - La casa: words related to one's house and the things that can be found inside and outside of it. 

Week 5 - Introduction to the definite and indefinite articles. How to choose the correct article for a word given its gender (masculine/feminine) and number (singular/plural).

Week 6 - Introduction to verbs.  Essere (to be) and avere (to have) and how to conjugate them. Pronouns.
Learning Goals
Students will build their existing knowledge of Italian vocabulary and continue practicing reading and writing. Students will learn basic Italian grammar (such as articles, pronouns, and basic verbs).

Supply List
Students are strongly advised to have paper and a pencil to take notes.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
