Class Experience

Beginner - Intermediate Level
In Italian Learning Conversation Club for Teens, we will learn through songs, conversation skills, grammar, dialogues, stories, and vocabulary. You can join in at any point as each day we learn something different. Students will be given print offs, links to songs, or online games to review after class.

Topics may include the following but generally will vary based on the goals and level of each section:

Week of June 10: Greetings and when to use them
Week of June 17: Basic conversation skills
Week of June 24: Restaurant conversation skill for breakfast
Week of July 1: Counting from 1-20
Week of July 8: More conversation skills

More classes and topics will be added in the future.

About the Class:
- Once a week (though you can sign up for more than one section if you'd like to take the class again in another time slot to review and gain more confidence).
- Students will be be given opportunities to not just repeat what I say but also to practice saying questions and singing songs without my help (though I'm always there to help when needed).

Class Structure (generally):
- Introductions
- Learn vocabulary, conversation skills, or/and song of the day
- Practice
- Review/ Questions
- Explained where attachments, homework, links, or games can be found to review after class

Teaching Style:
- I encourage students to have fun while learning Italian. I am there to support them at the level they are at, giving help when needed and not giving as many hints when they seem more confident to give them a chance to be more fluent by themselves.
- I teach the material while students repeat what I say. I pause every now and then to review-- asking questions.
- In conversation skills, every students gets will be given the opportunity to answer any questions that we learned in class with me there to help them and the screen having information to guide their answer.
- Being an experienced Italian teacher, I adapt my classes based on the skillset of the students in the course.

Student's Italian Level:
- Students can come in having no Italian understanding, beginners level (meaning not able to conjugate verbs more than the present tense and passato prossimo), or intermediate level because this is a weekly club were I will make it accessible to help you understand the topic we are learning for that week.

Want to take private lessons instead for personalized, one on one lessons? I have that listed on my profile and you can message me any questions.

Other Details

Learning Needs
I have worked with students who have ASD, ADHD (up to severe), dysgraphia, neurodivergent, selective mutism, slow processing speed, and more. I help them gain confidence that they matter, can be themselves, & can learn what we are learning.
Parental Guidance
Quizlet links may be given to review on some weeks. Students will need a free Quizlet account to review after class (this is not done in class), as otherwise they will not be able to use all the review features or see the whole section of vocabulary. However, with a free account, ads are shown still (about signing up for the military, not vaping, movies, etc.) so if you don't want them to see this, you may have to pay for an account. YouTube links will be provided when we learn a song. You don't need an account with YouTube. The link will be in the classroom for them to review with the link.
Supply List
Nothing but a readiness to learn and participate. Don't be intimidated. Whether you are shy or outgoing, this is a class that you can learn a lot of Italian and gain confidence.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from North Carolina State University
I've taught over 1,000 students Italian online since 2019.

Taking foreign language classes opens the doors to many opportunities. In high school, I took Spanish, and at university, I took up through Intermediate level in Italian. I now give students the opportunity to learn Italian language by making it fun and engaging through my teaching style, print offs, and Quizlets games. I have been teaching basic through intermediate Italian courses since January 2019 involving conversation skills, grammar (present indicative, passato prossimo, conjugating verbs with pronouns, adjectives reflecting the correct the-- as there are 7 the's in Italian, and more), as well as vocabulary and fairytale reading classes to make the language to come to life in a fun way. I have helped students prepare for Italian trips, help English students transition to moving to Italy, as well as students and charters school students just wanting to take my classes for fun.
