This is a class made to practice and develop fluency in Italian. Every week, we will work on a conversation by practicing the use of Italian sentences that can be used in your daily life. The class runs for 8 weeks. During this period, we will work on listening and using the proper intonation of the words. We will practice correct pronunciation. We will learn grammar, communication topics, and vocabulary. We will create phrases that can be used daily. We will build our Italian vocabulary. We will learn more grammar. We will learn to listen to questions and tips on how to answer them. Meeting one: Introduce yourself in Italian • Buon giorno! Greetings in Italian • Mi piace! I like Italian • Tu, Lei: The polite form. Grazie e mi dispiace • Say thank you and apologize. Meeting two: Review. Definite article • Masculine and Feminine • Italian subject pronouns • The structure of Italian sentences Meeting three: Review. We will practice the verb ESSERE and learn how to conjugate it. We will create our sentences. Nome primitivo e derivato. Meeting four: Review. We will practice the verb AVERE and learn how to conjugate it. We will create our sentences. Meeting five: Review. Expressions with Essere and Avere • Professions • Drinks • Colors Meeting six: Review. Daily activities • Days of the week • Farm animals • Food Meeting seven: Review. Months and seasons • Number from 0 to 100. Meeting eight: Review. Daily activities • Attività quotidiane.
Learning Goals
The learning goal is to speak and develop fluency in Italian and develop self-confidence when speaking in Italian.
In this course, students will learn to understand and communicate in Italian in a range of everyday situations.
Students will develop basic skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Italian, learn vocabulary, expressions, and how to talk about everyday and familiar topics.
