Class Experience

Building confidence is key to any foreign language, and that is what I will be doing through this class.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In this summer camp, we will focus on learning/reviewing some conversational skills that will allow students to have mini-conversations, a song, and some key vocabulary (numbers 1-10, colors, some foods, some summer terms, and if time permits, the days of the week.

This can be a class for beginners or those who want to review some topics or haven't learned all of these topics before but know some.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day 1: We will learn numbers 1-10 and some colors including the rainbow. (Students should bring the coloring sheets to color in class).

Day 2: We will learn Head Shoulders Knees and Toes in Italian (Students can participate so make sure you have enough room to do the song standing up without headphones in a room where you don't have to be quiet). We will learn 2 questions in Italian too (What's your name? and How is the weather?)

Day 3: We will learn and practice some conversation skills-- How are you? What's your name? How's the weather? What's your favorite color? How old are you? Where is the bathroom? Where is the restaurant? We will also learn the days of the week if time permits.

Day 4: We will learn some foods, drinks, and summer terms (about 6 pages)
Learning Goals
The goal of this camp is to help students get excited and feel confident in learning Italian through learning vocabulary and small dialogues and help them learn a lot in a short amount of time while feeling confident about it.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Students may be given Quizlet links to review some Italian learned. If they want to keep their scores for Quizlet games, then they will need an account created by you (but this is not required for my class). We will watch a YouTube video to learn the song on day 2 and they will be given the link to play it for homework to review. Printables of information learned or coloring sheets will either be attached in the Outschool classroom or be given through a Google Drive link of which no Google account is required but you or your students may want to use the link to print off material to review or bring to class.

I believe that taking foreign language classes opens the doors to many opportunities. In high school, I took Spanish, and at university, I took up through Intermediate level in Italian. I now give students the opportunity to learn Italian language by making it fun and engaging through my teaching style, print offs, and Quizlets games. I have been teaching basic through intermediate Italian courses for over 3 years involving basic conversation skills, grammar (present indicative, passato prossimo, conjugating verbs with pronouns, adjectives reflecting the correct the-- as there are 7 the's in Italian, and more), as well as vocabulary and fairytale reading classes to make the lanuage to come to life in a fun way.
