There are NO live meetings for this class. This Self-Paced class includes instruction for the basic techniques for Irish Dance and the basic Reel and Jig. Instructor, Peggy Cannon, wears color coded clothing to make it easy to follow and learn. In each video segment the step will be slowly demonstrated and explained in detail. Learners will then follow along with the video and do the step faster and eventually with music. Each week will feature a building block of the Reel and/or Jig. By the end of the course learners will build those blocks into a complete Reel Step and Jig Step. Each week learners will be given a challenge to reinforce what they learned during the videos of the week. Learners are encouraged to share the completion of their challenge in the class room. Learners are also encouraged to interact with the instructor weekly by posting videos of their dances and asking questions.

over 4 WeeksLesson 1:
Intro of Basics
The basic techniques and building blocks of Irish Dance will be taught. Along with basic techniques, combinations of the basic Irish Dance moves will be taught including the Sideways Step, the Irish Skip, Jumping and the Figure 8. 23 mins of video lessons
Lesson 2:
Combos of the Sideways Step
Dancers will take their knowledge of the Sideways Step and create a combination step. 30 mins of video lessons
Lesson 3:
Reel Steps
Dancers will learn the parts of various Reel Steps and will eventually combine the parts into a complete Reel Dance. 32 mins of video lessons
Lesson 4:
The Basic Jig
Dancers will learn the most traditional of the Irish Dances, the Jig. Dancers will learn the beginning, the end and putting it all together in to a complete Jig Step. 11 mins of video lessons

Supply List
Comfortable clothing suitable for easy movement and flexible shoes such as tennis shoes are recommended. Dancers should also keep a water bottle on hand.
