Class Experience

In this three-session "camp-style" class, students will be introduced to the free Tayasui Sketches School app. This class is geared toward elementary students who love to draw and would like to use their creativity to draw amazing pictures on their iPad! It is perfect for beginners who have no or limited experience with drawing on the iPad or who are interested in learning about a new digital drawing app.

During each 45-minute class, students will learn in-depth about the various drawing tools in the Sketches School app and will be guided through exploring their features. Each day will feature specific tools and will include a creative guided drawing lesson where students will use the skills they are learning to create a drawing on their iPad.

Day 1 - Basic Drawing Tools, drawing of a seasonal landscape
Day 2 - Advanced Drawing Tools (including shapes, text, lines, symmetry), drawing of an emoji character
Day 3 - Combining tools to build a city scene, decorating with emoji stickers

Students will share their finished drawings with the teacher and the class while reflecting on what they learned, their strengths, and what they would like to learn or improve in their next drawing.

For this class, your student will need:
*An iPad and the most recent free Tayasui Sketches School app downloaded onto their iPad in advance:
*A separate computer or screen (not the iPad they are using for drawing) to watch the lesson.
*It is helpful if students have a stylus or an Apple Pencil to make the drawing process easier, but this lesson can also be done by drawing with a finger.

Please note that the Tayasui Sketches School app is perfect for beginners and is much simpler than using the Procreate app to draw. If your student is already using Procreate successfully to make drawings, then this class probably is too easy for them.

I personally love to draw on my iPad and have many years of experience teaching young learners how to draw digitally. I would love to share with your student the many creative tricks and tips that I have learned.
Learning Goals
At the end of this iPad Drawing Camp, students will have completed several detailed digital drawings and will have the knowledge to continue using the drawing tricks we learned in the Sketches School app to create their own masterpieces!
