Class Experience

Are you looking for a class to help your child write stronger more detailed journal paragraphs? Look no further. In this ongoing class, students will learn how to add details to their journal writing. Once they have learned the magic detail words and have practiced the strategy collaboratively, they will use a detail word to launch a mini story paragraph. We will learn a new detail word each class and then practice using it to begin our mini story paragraphs. Once we have done all four detail...

Students will be able to add details to their personal writing and complete mini story paragraphs. They will also be able to identify single scoop words and replace them with triple scoop words.

I have 11 years of experience as a classroom teacher and teacher librarian.

  2 files available upon enrollment-download and print the Magic Detail Words handout from the classroom.
-writer's notebook (book with lines to write on)
-come to class with three different ideas on what they might want to write about (journal entry) so we don't waste time trying to decide on a topic. You can use Journal Writing handout as inspiration and to brainstorm your ideas on.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
