In this one-time class, students will begin their investment knowledge journey by learning about the basic concepts of what investing is, how it works, and the different types of common investments.

This class is for the true beginners! No prior investing knowledge is required for this class. We will go over all of the basics, including: • Introduction: What is investing, anyway? What does it include? What does it mean? (~10 minutes) • The different types of investment income, including interest, dividends, capital gains, and more. (~20 minutes) • The different types of investment tools, including stocks, bonds, real estate, and more. (~20 minutes) • The different types of investment accounts (for example tax-advantaged or tax-free accounts vs. taxable, and why you would use each one). (~20 minutes) • Questions, Discussion and Wrap-up (~15 minutes) Since this is a lot of information to cover, it will be a little more lecture-style based on slides. However, there will be lots of space for questions and discussion throughout our time together. I will also provide a PDF hand-out with a summary, glossary and further resources. In 2017 I also obtained the Responsible Investment Specialist Certification.
