Description

Class Experience

Want to participate in a creative STEM activity?  Join us for Invention Convention!  

On Day 1, we will brainstorm problems that we experience in everyday life and possible solutions. We will also look at existing inventions to discuss what problem they solve.  We'll even look at chindogu- silly inventions that are popular in Japan.  

On Day 2, each student will share an invention they made using materials they have around the house.  After looking at inventive methods of advertisement,...

Students will participate in a creative STEM project.  They will create a 3-D model and present their ideas.

Students will work individually to make an invention for homework.  This work should take approximately 1-3 hours.

Students should bring paper and pencil (or a whiteboard) to each class.  Depending on what students decide to create, they may use crafting materials (glue/ tape/ scissors), recycled materials or various items they have around the house.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
