Class Experience

What will be taught?
Students will learn about the 4 different styles of commonly used communication styles: passive, aggressive, passive aggressive and assertive.

What topics will be covered?
We will talk about the pros and cons of each communication style and learn the best style to use when talking to others. This is called assertive communication. Students will identify their own style and then practice the best form of communication (assertive) with their new friends.

What is my teaching style?
I love student interaction and participation, so my approach is supportive and encouraging. I try to engage students through ice breaker activities and fun, interactive lessons that kids can relate to.

How much will learners get to interact with me or with others?
The first 15 minutes will be devoted to teaching. The remainder of the class will be interactive.

Any required experience or knowledge learners need?
No experience is necessary, but a good attitude is important.

Learning Goals

Students will increase their understanding of the 4 types of commonly used communication styles. We will identify the pros and cons of each style and discover which one is best to use when in conflict. Students will then have the opportunity to practice this effective form of communication with their peers.
