Class Experience
This class will explore the idea of engaging our reader right from the start through a number of tried-and-true ways. The purpose of an introductory paragraph is to catch the interest of your reader. Within the introduction, the topic is identified. The introduction must include a hook, background information, bridge, and thesis. We will process the steps needed to complete our introduction together. The "I-We-You" method will be used throughout the class meeting. Instruction will be...
Students will learn how to write an introductory paragraph. This specific skill is needed to be successful in all classes. Being able to express oneself through writing, is expected across the disciplines.
There is no homework for this one-time course. Come back for another lesson exploring a different part of writing a paragraph and/or essay.
Paper Pencil Computer Highlighters (5 different colors).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The assessment takes place as ongoing. While instruction is taking place, the student is assessed as they process each skill presented. Assessment is used for remediation/redirection, and to ensure your student gets the most from this session.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
